This article examines the importance of developing modern transversal competence of students in higher education institutions, as well as the level of development and opportunities for developing transversal skills of future specialists in the discipline "Fundamentals of personal development". development". The components and methods of transversal competencies aimed at forming students as a competitive personality in accordance with the education system in higher educational institutions that meet the requirements of modern society are analyzed. Currently, a set of the following transversal competencies is relevant: critical and innovative thinking, higher creative thinking, communicative competencies, digital and information literacy, quick solution of situations, the ability to work in a team and a team, creative thinking, defined as necessary for the introduction of ideas into a new education system, innovative project management, market analysis, creating business models, stress tolerance, perseverance, motivation, empathy, honesty, global citizenship, awareness, tolerance, openness, respect, intercultural understanding, the ability to resolve conflicts, respect for the environment, etc. were systematized. "The skills of the 21st century, transversal competencies and the relationship between "soft skills" and "global skills" and "survival skills" will be analyzed.
Transversal competencies in the scientific literature are analyzed, based on the patterns of their application in the learning process, it is scientifically proven that they differ from one field of activity to another by rapid adaptation, and play a key role in achieving success in the modern labor market.
Analyzing the works of foreign scientists, a system of transversal competencies was compiled, five main components and their content specifics were identified.
In addition, it was conducted on the basis of a survey of a research project. The study involved 50 students, as a result of which the level of formation and development of transversal competencies in the study of the discipline "Fundamentals of personal development" was identified and analyzed.
