Abstract

The study examined a model for integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education to prepare future informatics teachers capable of applying theoretical knowledge to solving real-world problems across various scientific fields. Integrated STEM education represents an interdisciplinary approach that combines multiple disciplines into a cohesive system. There is a growing conviction that STEM disciplines cannot and should not be taught in isolation. STEM education emphasizes the importance of an interdisciplinary approach, eliminating the teaching of isolated subjects. At the same time, there is a lack of specific recommendations on the structure and content of informatics teacher preparation in the context of STEM education, highlighting the need for targeted training to develop relevant competencies.

This article presents a model for integrating STEM education into professional subjects for training future informatics teachers. The model is based on a synthesis of research literature on integrated learning and STEM education. It includes four key components for informatics teacher training: (1) Target block – defines specific objectives and expected outcomes of the training program. (2) Process block – focuses on methods and approaches used in the teaching and training of future informatics teachers. (3)  involves the analysis and generalization of educational content. (4) Outcome block – focuses on practical application and the development of necessary competencies.

The proposed model can serve as a foundation for the professional development of future informatics teachers and the creation of targeted educational programs that meet the requirements of STEM education.
