In the article, the author considers word formation as a way to expand the vocabulary of the English language. Researches and analyzes the work of domestic and foreign scientists in the field of word formation. According to the new state compulsory education standards, the communicative competence of future specialists should be at a high level. In this regard, the article is devoted to the problem of expanding the vocabulary for free communication of students.
