Abstract

In the article, the authors outline their views on the implementation of STEM into school education, based on an analysis of the literature on the topic. During the study, projects developed on the basis of STEM-approach in teaching physics, were considered and analyzed. The authors studied approaches to the formation of the basic competencies of students, namely, educational, informational, communicative competencies and skills to solve problems necessary for specialists of the 21st century.

By studying the ways to form the above-mentioned competencies and skills of students, the authors propose several projects developed in STEM logic where elements of engineering and technology are used. Such projects not only allow students to better understand physical phenomena, but also develop technical and creative skills, design and teamwork skills. The authors conducted a pedagogical experiment during which they tested tailored projects in optional physics classes. The results of the experiment showed the effectiveness of project training in the formation of the basic competencies of students.

Thus, project training in physics lessons contributes to the formation of a set of competencies that are important not only for the study of science, but also for the future professional activities of students.
