In the article the author aims to explain the role of the text as the main methodological basis for teaching professionally oriented Russian language to the students of the national audience of higher educational institutions. The author emphasizes that the use of adapted texts in practical language classes contributes to the improvement of scientific and professional speech and communicative ability of students, their optimal use of various means of Russian language in the upcoming professional activities. The paper argues for the exceptional relevance of working with texts on the specialty in the process of learning professionally-oriented Russian language. The undeniable positive aspects of the of adapted texts the author refers to the focus on a specific level of language proficiency, working on reading skills, rapid language comprehension, replenishment of vocabulary.
