The pedagogical potential of case technology in the formation of research competence of future physics teachers is determined. The role of the teacher in the development of research competencies and skills of students is determined. At the ascertaining stage of the study, the questionnaire method revealed the level of formation of research competencies of future physics students, the process of forming research competencies of future physics teachers through case technology was carried out. Methodical recommendations were given to the teacher on the gradual introduction of case technology in physics lessons. The system structure of the cases was developed and their classification was carried out, which allowed not only to expand the basic knowledge of students, but also to form other aspects of the future teacher-physicist's activity. At the formative stage of the research, cases were developed in the sections "Mechanics", "Molecular Physics", "Optics", "Quantum Physics", ensuring the formation of students' research competencies, their content and technology of application, a collection of cases was tested at seminars. During consecutive seminars with future physics teachers at the university, the possibility of using technology with the use of case technology was revealed not only in the disciplines of the humanities, but also in the methodology of teaching natural science subjects. In the final part of the research work, the data of the formative stage are statistically processed.
