In connection with the modernization of the education system, the widespread development of information technologies and their penetration into all social spheres, the goals and objectives of education are changing, and the requirements for graduates of higher, secondary vocational and general education also change.
The article defines the essence of the information competence of high school students, reveals the structure of the activity of high school students in the formation of their information competence, concludes that there is a need for systematic and purposeful work to form the information competence of high school students in the context of digitalization of school education.
According to the author, the implementation of this process will become effective if didactic conditions are identified and provided, including: building an educational and information environment and involving students in it; intensive use of forms and methods of teaching, requiring a variety of work with information; organization of a special course aimed at the formation of information competence of students.
