DEVELOPMENT OF FUNCTIONAL LITERACY OF STUDENTS AND LEARNERS AS A KEY TO THE SUCCESS OF MODERN DOMESTIC EDUCATION

The article deals with the issues of functional literacy formation as a basic comprehensive development of an individual in modern conditions. The purpose of the article is to prove that the formation of functional literacy is today the main task of a pedagogical university.
The result of the last practical testing of theoretical ideas was a scientific and methodological seminar Formation of functional literacy of secondary school students in lessons on subjects of the language cycle, held on December 21-22, 2022 on the basis of the KSU Borasinskaya secondary school-garden of the Beskaragai district of the Abai region under the guidance of a professor of the Department of Foreign Languages of the NAO Shakarim University Semey, Ph.D. G.K.Ismailova, 76 teachers from 21 schools of Beskaragai district of Abai region took part in the seminar.
At the end of the article, a conclusion was made confirming that the formation of functional literacy is today the main task of a pedagogical university, since the future teacher, should have competencies in the field of functional literacy in order for him to be able to form and develop functional literacy in the future among students.
The value of the conducted research is determined by the fact that the above –mentioned seminar was held within the framework of the AP14871008 project Development of functional literacy of teachers and trainees in the system of national multilingual and multicultural pedagogical education on the basis of grant funding for scientific and scientific and technical projects for 2022-2024.
The practical significance of the results of the work lies in the fact that this article is addressed to teachers of linguistic subjects and literature, as well as teachers of philological disciplines and will be useful to doctoral students, undergraduates and students of pedagogical and philological fields.
