Abstract

The Kazakh audience of the 21st century, which is considered the modern era, is Kazakh youth, who despite of the destructive power of the Internet, are fond of reading books. Schoolchildren, students of secondary and higher educational institutions, or young professionals just starting their careers choose books from a wide variety of genres and themes. It is better to develop interest in domestic literature from an early age, first by reading bedtime stories or learning a poem for a kindergarten matinee, and then fully studying it during primary school period. In this regard, the purpose of the scientific research is to identify works of the new age that would increase students’ interest in them, by conducting research for teachers and students of the Abai school branches. It is also important to prove the need to create teaching methods and prepare useful recommendations for teachers. The article distinguishes between the fundamental works of country and foreign scientists related to the teaching of Kazakh literature. Conclusions regarding to the methodology of teaching literature are presented. The results of research, interviews, surveys and comparisons are synthesized and analyzed. Genres of works of art that are interesting to the modern reader are identified. Arising innovations in Kazakh prose and poetry in content, form, type and structure are analyzed and recommended to include into school curriculum. In addition, there were developed recommendations for teachers to clearly understand what and how to teach.
