The Kazakh audience of the 21st century, which is considered the modern era, is Kazakh youth, who despite of the destructive power of the Internet, are fond of reading books. Schoolchildren, students of secondary and higher educational institutions, or young professionals just starting their careers choose books from a wide variety of genres and themes. It is better to develop interest in domestic literature from an early age, first by reading bedtime stories or learning a poem for a kindergarten matinee, and then fully studying it during primary school period. In this regard, the purpose of the scientific research is to identify works of the new age that would increase students’ interest in them, by conducting research for teachers and students of the Abai school branches. It is also important to prove the need to create teaching methods and prepare useful recommendations for teachers. The article distinguishes between the fundamental works of country and foreign scientists related to the teaching of Kazakh literature. Conclusions regarding to the methodology of teaching literature are presented. The results of research, interviews, surveys and comparisons are synthesized and analyzed. Genres of works of art that are interesting to the modern reader are identified. Arising innovations in Kazakh prose and poetry in content, form, type and structure are analyzed and recommended to include into school curriculum. In addition, there were developed recommendations for teachers to clearly understand what and how to teach.
