This paper explores the competence-based approach in the training of future philologists, focusing on how this pedagogical model contributes to the development of linguistic, communicative, and cultural competencies essential for professional success in the field. The competence approach, as an educational paradigm, emphasizes equipping students with a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, enhancing their ability to navigate complex linguistic environments. The paper examines the application of this approach in the curriculum in diverse cultural contexts, particularly in the United States, Kazakhstan, and Russia. Drawing on recent contributions from scholars in these countries, the paper highlights the evolving nature of education and the critical role of interdisciplinary methodologies in fostering the required competencies. Through a comparative analysis of contemporary literature and case studies, the paper demonstrates the positive impact of the competence approach on the professional readiness of future philologists, offering recommendations for further integration of this model in academic programs.
